Box Details

General Information

This screen contains all of the details associated with a box. It can be accessed from either the Packaging tab in Order Entry or from the Packer's Workstation box list.

How to Use the Screen

Review or modify any of the accessible information in the screen as required.

General Information
Field Definitions

SHIP TO - the customer name and address that the package is being shipped.

Note: *OLD ADDRESS- this is displayed when the address in the customer record for the Ship-To does not match the shipping address for this box, check the bottom of the screen for the reason listing.

DELIVERY TYPE- the address type, either commercial or residential.

SHIPMENT PART - the invoice part associated with the shipment, A, B, C, D, etc.

DATE SHIPPED - if the shipment has already occurred, the shipping date.

ACTUAL WEIGHT - the actual weight of the box.

BILLABLE WEIGHT - the billable weight of the box.

STATUS - the status of the box shipment, for example, "Shipped," "Needs Weighing," etc.

VIA/SHIPMENT METHOD - the current method of shipment for the box as entered in the customer's order.   The method may be edited and the shipping charges will be recalculated for the new method. Note: This carrier selection will determine the sub tab shown in the Package Info tab.

ZONE - the carrier zone associated with the shipping destination for the box. Carrier zones are maintained in the Shipping Method Maintenance function.

BOX __ OF __ - the number of this box in relation to the total number of boxes.

CUSTOMER CHARGES - the customer charges for the box. This is based on the customer charges established in the Shipping Method Maintenance function.

CARRIER CHARGES - the carrier charges associated with the weight and zone. Carrier charges are also maintained in the Shipping Method Maintenance function.

COD COLLECT - the COD amount to be collected by the carrier.

PICKUP RECORD # - the carrier defined pickup record number for the shipment in which the box is shipped. For UPS, this number is printed on the Shipping Manifest.

TRACKING NUMBER - the carrier's tracking number for those items shipped via a method that using tracking numbers, for example, UPS Ground Track, UPS 2nd Day, Next Day, Federal Express, etc.

INSURANCE VALUE - M.O.M. calculates this value based on either the retail or wholesale price of the items in the shipment as defined in the Maintain Stock Item function.

PACKER ID - the user id for the person who used the Packer's Workstation to weigh the box.

Package Info

UPS

These check boxes on the right of the screen enable you to apply one or more special UPS services to the shipment. Consult with your UPS service representative or UPS documentation for more information about these services. To apply a service to the shipment, check the appropriate box.

Please Note: UPS Labels will not print without a package weight or a valid ZIP code.

Package Options

UPS ADDITIONAL HANDLING - select this to indicate Additional Handling on special types of items for the box.

DELIVERY CONFIRMATION - select this to indicate Delivery Confirmation for the box.

SIGNATURE REQUIRED - select this to indicate that a signature is required for Delivery Confirmation.

ADULT SIGNATURE REQUIRED - select this to indicate that an adult signature is required for Delivery Confirmation.

HAZARDOUS MATERIALS - select this to indicate that the box is considered hazardous materials.

SHIPPER RELEASE- select this option to enable UPS to deliver the package without requiring a signature, therefore allowing one single delivery attempt to be made.

SATURDAY PICKUP- select this to indicate that the box is to be picked up by UPS on a Saturday. Available for Air services only.

Package Size

LARGE PACKAGE- select this to indicate that the box qualifies as a Large Package. A package is considered a Large Package when its length, combined with twice the width plus twice the height, exceeds 130 inches and is equal to or less than 165 inches.

UPS DIMENSIONAL WEIGHT - select this to indicate that the box has a UPS dimensional weight. This is the cubic size (L x W x H in inches) divided by 194. Dimensional weight rates are applicable only to UPS Ground packages that are greater than three cubic feet (5,184 cubic inches). Billable weight will be based on actual package weight or the dimensional weight whichever is greater. Packages smaller than three cubic feet will be billed based on actual weight. For air services the billable weight will be the either the actual or dimensional weight whichever is greater. Dimensional weight will be automatically calculated and the checkbox selected   if you specify the length, width, and height on your stock items. There are some additional handling fees for certain box dimension and weights.

Note: When shipping multiple items in one box, the largest dimensional weight among the items will used as the dimensional weight of the box.

LENGTH - the length of the box

WIDTH - the width of the box

HEIGHT - the height of the box

USPS

These check boxes on the right of the screen enable you to apply one or more special USPS services to the shipment. Consult with your USPS service representative or USPS documentation for more information about these services. To apply a service to the shipment, check the appropriate box.

Please Note: USPS Labels for MAC and MAC Gold will not print for a box that has an invalid weight for the selected method, or has an invalid ZIP code for the shipping address.
Package Options

ADDITIONAL HANDLING - select this to indicate Additional Handling on special types of items for the box.

DELIVERY CONFIRMATION - select this to indicate a USPS Delivery Confirmation.

SIGNATURE REQUIRED - select this to indicate that a signature is required for delivery.

Package Size

MACHINABLE- First Class Only- a package that is at least 3 inches high x 6 inches long x ¼ inch thick, and at least 6 ounces.

NON-MACHINABLE- First Class Only- a package that exceeds at least one dimension (including weight) of a machinable package.

Note: To setup Parcel Post shipping for machineable and non-machineable, two separate shipping methods must be created with machineable and non-machineable cost tables selected.

LETTER- a rectangular package that is at least 3-½ inches high x 5 inches long x .007 inch thick and No more than 6-1/8 inches high x 11-½ inches long x 1/4 inch thick.

BALLOON RATE - select this to indicate that the box has a balloon rate, defined as   a package that is charged the 15-pound parcel rate for the zone to which it is addressed, because it is weighing less than 15 pounds but measuring more than 84 inches in combined length and girth.

OVERSIZE   - select this to indicate that the box is an oversize box, defined as a Parcel Post piece measuring over 108 inches in combined length and girth, but not more than 130 inches in combined length and girth.

FLAT RATE ENVELOPE - a package sent in a USPS envelope measuring 9-1/2 X 12-1/2 inches.

PARCEL - a package that is larger than a letter and is being shipped in your own packaging.

FLAT RATE BOX - a package sent in a USPS box, available in 2 sizes:

  • Box One: 11-7/8 x 3-3/8 x 13-5/8 inches

  • Box Two: 11 x 8-1/2 x 5-1/2 inches

LARGE FLAT BOX -   a package sent in a USPS box that is 12" x 12" x 5½" in size and holding 800 cubic inches.

RECTANGLE - a package with four plane sides whose length exceeds its width, therefore removing the requirement of defining its girth.

DIMENSIONAL WEIGHT - enables the option of determining a packages actual weight using the provided dimension fields.

IRR PARCEL - An Irregular Parcel, defined as a parcel that cannot be processed by Bulk Mail Center parcel sorters, including rolls and tubes up to 26 inches long; merchandise samples that are not individually addressed and are not letter-size or flat-size; unwrapped, paper-wrapped, or sleeve-wrapped articles that are not letter-size or flat-size; and articles enclosed in envelopes that are not letter-size, flat-size, or machinable parcels.

OUTSIDE PARCEL - defined as a parcel that exceeds any of the maximum dimensions for a machinable parcel. This processing category also includes high-density parcels (other than books and printed matter) weighing more than 15 pounds and exerting more than 60 pounds per square foot (0.4167 pound per square inch) pressure on their smallest side; cartons containing more than 24 ounces of liquid in one or more glass containers; cartons containing 1 gallon or more of liquid in metal or plastic containers; cans, paints; rolls and tubes longer than 26 inches; metal-band strapped boxes, metal boxes, and wood boxes; articles not mailed in boxes or other containers; harmful matter; hazardous materials except ORM-D materials; and containers with all dimensions exceeding the minimum dimensions for a machinable (regular) parcel, if their coefficient of friction or ability to slide on a smooth, hard surface is not similar to that of a domestic-class fiberboard box of the same approximate size and weight.

FedEx

These check boxes on the right of the screen enable you to apply one or more special FedEx services to the shipment. Consult with your FedEx service representative or FedEx documentation for more information about these services. To apply a service to the shipment, check the appropriate box.

Package Options

SIGNATURE REQUIRED- These options determine which signature level is required for the delivery of this package:

  • INDIRECT- Requires a signature upon delivery.

  • DIRECT- Requires the signature of the recipient listed on the label.

  • ADULT- Requires the signature of an adult who is listed as the recipient on the label.

SATURDAY DELIVERY- This option enables you to ship a package that will arrive on the nearest Saturday, for a fee. When selecting Saturday Delivery the package:

  • Must be shipped on a service that can guarantee a Saturday Delivery based on the day of shipment, e.g., A Package is shipped on a Thursday using Second Day Air.

  • Must be shipped and manifested on the date printed on the label.

HOLD AT LOCATION- This option will instruct FedEx to hold the package at a FedEx service center nearest to the delivery point. You must enter the location information in order for this service to work correctly.

ADDITIONAL HANDLING CHARGE- The Additional Handling field allows you to enter a flat fee that will be added to the Additional Handling fees calculated by FedEx.  The charge applies to:

  • Any package exceeding 60 inches in length.

  • Any package exceeding 130 inches in length and girth combined.

  • Any article that is not fully encased in an outside shipping container.

  • Any article that is encased in an outside shipping container made of metal, wood, hard plastic, or foam material, such as Styrofoam brand packaging materials.

  • Any cylindrical package including, without limitation to, cans, buckets, barrels, drums or pails that are not fully encased in a shipping container made of corrugated cardboard.

  • Any cylindrical package whether or not encased in corrugated cardboard, which exceeds 18 inches in length, or 3 inches in diameter or has a diameter greater than its height.

  • Any other package that would become entangled in or cause damage to other packages in the FedEx conveyance system.

FUTURE SHIPPING DATE- Check the option and enter a date to the order being shipped and manifested until the desired date is reached. A shipping label will still be generated with the Future Ship Date e.g. 12/25/09.

Package Size

FEDEX DIMENSIONAL WEIGHT - select this to indicate that the box has a FedEx dimensional weight. This is the cubic size (L x W x H in inches) divided by 194. For FedEx Ground if the cubic size is 5,184 or greater divide it by 194 to determine the dimensional weight. Billable weight will be based on actual package weight or the dimensional weight whichever is greater. Packages smaller than three cubic feet will be billed based on actual weight. For air services the billable weight will be the either the actual or dimensional weight whichever is greater. Dimensional weight will be automatically calculated and the checkbox selected  if you specify the length, width, and height on your stock items.

Note: When shipping multiple items in one box, the largest dimensional weight among the items will used as the dimensional weight of the box.

LENGTH - the length of the box

WIDTH - the width of the box

HEIGHT - the height of the box

Special Services

If you send a shipment via FedEx and  want the shipment to be picked up and returned to you. You can pay for the cost of the shipping and return service fee per package to have a FedEx Return Label(s) generated. Refer to your FedEx Rate and Service Guide for current rates and more information.   Return Labels can be printed, emailed, or both

Return Service can be requested used with the following services: FedEx First Overnight, FedEx Priority Overnight, FedEx Standard Overnight, FedEx 2Day, FedEx Ground, FedEx Home Delivery, FedEx 2Day Freight and FedEx 3Day Freight.

DHL

These check boxes on the right of the screen enable you to apply one or more special DHL services to the shipment. Consult with your DHL service representative or DHL documentation for more information about these services. To apply a service to the shipment, check the appropriate box.

Package Options

DELIVERY CONFIRMATION - select this to indicate Delivery Confirmation for the box.

SIGNATURE REQUIRED - select this to indicate that a signature is required for Delivery Confirmation.

Package Size

DHL DIMENSIONAL WEIGHT - select this to indicate that the box has a DHL dimensional weight. This is the cubic size (L x W x H in inches) divided by 194. For ground services if the cubic size is 5,184 or greater divide it by 194 to determine the dimensional weight. Billable weight will be based on actual package weight or the dimensional weight whichever is greater. Packages smaller than three cubic feet will be billed based on actual weight. For air services the billable weight will be the either the actual or dimensional weight whichever is greater. Dimensional weight will be automatically calculated and the checkbox selected  if you specify the length, width, and height on your stock items.

OVERSIZED 1 - Oversize 1 will be automatically calculated based on length, width, and height. DHL defines Oversize 1 as a ground shipment weighing less than 30 pounds and measuring between 84 inches and less than or equal to 108 inches in combined length plus girth ( L + ( 2W + 2H ) ) will be classified as an Oversize 1 shipment and charged at the customer’s 30-pound transportation price.

OVERSIZED 2 - Oversize 2 will be automatically calculated based on length, width, and height. DHL defines Oversize 2 as a ground shipment weighing less than 70 pounds and measuring greater than 108 inches, but less than or equal to 130 inches in combined length plus girth will be classified as an Oversize 2 shipment and charged at the customer’s 70-pound transportation price.

OVERSIZED 3 - Oversize 3 will be automatically calculated based on length, width, and height. DHL defines Oversize 3 as a ground shipment weighing less than 90 pounds and measuring greater than 130 inches but less than or equal to 165 inches in combined length plus girth will be classified as an Oversize 3 shipment and charged at the customer’s 90-pound transportation price.

Other

These check boxes on the right of the screen enable you to apply one or more special services to the shipment. To apply a service to the shipment, check the appropriate box.

Package Options

DELIVERY CONFIRMATION - select this to indicate Delivery Confirmation for the box.

Package Size

OVERSIZED 1 - select this to indicate that the box is an oversize 1 box.

OVERSIZED 2 -   - select this to indicate that the box is an oversize 2 box.

Package Instructions & Charges
Instructions to Appear on the Box Label

If instructions have been entered for all boxes in an order on the Order Entry - Instructions/Notes tab, those instructions are displayed here as the DEFAULT. To write instructions just for this box, press the CUSTOM button and type in the instructions.

Package Charges

CARRIER ACTUAL CHARGES - the actual charges from the carrier for the box based on the shipping method.

DELIVERY CONFIRMATION FEES - the actual charges from the carrier for delivery confirmation for the box.

OTHER PACKAGING FEES (ADD'L HANDLING, SURCHARGE ETC) - the actual charges from the carrier for any additional fees, such as Additional Handling, Oversized, etc., for the box

INSURANCE BASED ON $ - the actual charges from the carrier for insurance based on the total cost of items in the box    Insurance is setup in Shipping Method Maintenance - General Information for each shipping method.

COD CHARGE - the current rate for COD service.

ADDITIONAL CUSTOMER CHARGES - the additional customer charges setup within the carrier's customer charges tab to charge on the box or shipment such as per weight, per box, per item, per pound etc.

TOTAL PACKAGE SHIPPING CHARGE - the total package shipping charges for that package only.
