G/L Interface Maintenance
General Information
This screen enables you to maintain the cross references between
the Mail Order Manager journal accounts and the account numbers for
an external general ledger software package. This information is
used when you run the Post Journal function.
How to Use the Screen
There are two levels of account maintained in this function.
-
Primary accounts (the names of which are displayed in UPPER CASE)
are pre-established for you. A primary account cannot be created or
deleted, it can only be edited. For definitions of the primary
accounts as they apply to the A/R Journal and the A/P Journal,
refer to Accounting Methodology.
-
Secondary accounts can be created or deleted for the primary
accounts PURCHASE ADJUSTMENT, SALES, SALES RETURNS, COST OF GOODS
SOLD and PAYMENT ADJUSTMENTS. Secondary accounts are typically used
to categorize specific types of adjustments. Note: In the case of the primary
account, PAYMENT ADJUSTMENTS, the sub-account POINTS REDEEMED has
been created for you. This sub-account is used to track points used
by customers as payment on orders when a points and rewards program
has been established.
Complete any one or more of the tasks below. After changes,
additions, or deletions have been made, press CLOSE to exit the

Column Definitions
ACCOUNT TYPE - there are four different types of account in the
M.O.M. journal: asset, liability, income, and expense.
TITLE - the name of the account. The 18 primary accounts are
pre-established in M.O.M. for you. For definitions of these
accounts, refer to Accounting Methodology. The secondary
accounts are defined and titled by you.
DEPT CODE - for secondary accounts only. A two character
identification code for the account. This code is useful for
categorizing accounts when more than one secondary account
references the same G/L account number.
ACCOUNT NUMBER - this is the account number used in your G/L for
the corresponding M.O.M. account.
Note: If you are using
Peachtree as your G/L, make sure that the account numbers entered
in M.O.M. are valid numbers in Peachtree.
ADJUSTING BALANCE - this field is used to make changes to the
current balance as required; for example if you start-up in the
middle of the financial year, etc. For the every day use of M.O.M.,
you would not need to make any adjustments to the current
balance.
LAST TRANSACTION - this is the amount of the last transaction
posted to the account. The untitled column to the right indicates
whether the transaction was a credit (CR) or debit (DB) to the
account.
CURRENT BALANCE - the cumulative balance for the account. The
untitled column to the right indicates whether the normal expected
balance for that account is a credit (CR) or debit (DB).
