Sales Tax Tables Maintenance - County
General Information
This screen lets you set up tax rates
and product tax classes at the county level for a state selected in
the State Tax Rates screen tab.
Note: To setup tax rates at the county
level, you must have the optional ZIP/State/Town database (ZSTD)
option installed with your M.O.M. system.

How To Use the Screen

Select the county(s) on the list in
which your business operates.

Enter the TAX RATE for the county and
press ENTER.

If a county requires you to charge tax
on customer shipping charges, check the TAX SHIPPING box.

If a county requires you to not charge
tax on boxes with all non-taxable items, check the DO NOT TAX
SHIPPING ON BOXES WITH ALL NON-TAXABLE ITEMS box.

If a county requires you to charge tax
on handling fees only, check the TAX HANDLING FEES ONLY box.

Optionally, use the pull-down menu to set up as many as five
(A-E) tax classes for the County to classify specific product sales
at a specific rate. For each tax class that you set up that is
taxable, check the box, TAX CLASS IS TAXABLE and enter the TAX RATE
for the class. Tax classes are assigned to products in the Stock
Maintenance - General Information screen.

Optionally, set the MAXIMUM TAX RULES by checking the STOP
TAXING AFTER TOTAL MERCHANDISE EXCEEDS $____ box and entering a
value to taxing merchandise after a designated merchandise total.
Note: this can be set
differently for each Tax Class.

Optionally, set the MINIMUM TAX RULES by checking the ONLY TAX
ITEMS THAT EXCEED $____ box and entering a value to start taxing an
item that exceeds a designated amount.
Note: this can be set
differently for each Tax Class.

Select the CLOSE button, or continue with ZIP/city level taxes
and tax classes.

If a city within a county requires you
to collect sales tax or if that county has any special "enterprise
zones" with reduced sales tax rates, highlight the county in the
list and select the ZIP/City Tax Rates tab to set up the tax
rates for the cities and/or ZIP codes.
